Tony Lee is a #1 New York Times Bestselling Writer with almost forty years of professional writing experience across all media. A million-selling author with over a quarter of billion page reads, he has written for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, BBC One, ITV Studios, Random House, Penguin USA, Hachette and dozens of other major publishers and broadcasters on iconic licenses including Doctor Who, Spider-Man, X-Men, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Wallace and Gromit and Shrek.

As Jack Gatland, Tony has become an Amazon #1 Bestseller writing crime thrillers and procedurals. His breakout series features Detective Inspector Declan Walsh and the City of London Police’s notorious Last Chance Saloon, with twenty-two books released so far. He also writes the Ellie Reckless “cop for criminals” series, the Tom Marlowe spy thrillers, the Liam Harper series, the Carlyle & Silver Cozy Mysteries and adventures featuring treasure hunter Damian Lucas, among others.

As Tony Lee, he’s written primarily for Urban Fantasy, including the novel Twelve Tasks, the Ryder Waites “Playing Card War” series and the Danny Charming series.

In comics, as well as the above mentioned licenses, Tony’s collaborated with rock legends including Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth and Joe Satriani on graphic novels. He’s currently co-writing the epic MANDRAKE PROJECT series with Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson for Z2 Comics.

In addition to this, he’s created full-cast audio dramas for Big Finish, Audible/Amazon and Spiteful Puppet/ITV, including licenses such as Robin Of Sherwood, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Dodge & Twist and Doctor Who.

Beyond writing, Tony is the founder of Hooded Man Media, a digital-first publisher with an exclusive Amazon deal, and its subdivision Caliburn Comics. He has multiple TV and film projects in development/production in both the US and UK, and his Baker Street Irregulars graphic novels, soon to be re-released, have been adapted for the world stage.

Tony is a member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, the Crime Writers Association, the Society of Authors, and the Alliance of Independent Authors. He’s a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers and was granted Freedom of the City of London in 2023.

A dual citizen of the UK and Ireland, he’s managed by Zero Gravity Management in LA for screenwriting, and Watson, Little in London for books to film deals.

He currently lives in Kent with his wife, Tracy and his dog, Darcy.
