When Iris was 7, her and her two older sisters disappeared from the streets of Edinburgh. A couple of months later they returned with a shocking change. All now having white hair and dark eyes. Not only did they look different on their return, it became clear the sisters now had abilities to force people into doing things for them.

Cut to present day, Isla is still in school, her two sisters have left swaning off on their own lives. Grey, the oldest, is now a fashion design and model and Vivi is in a punk rock band who is currently touring. When Grey disappears without a trace, the two remaining sisters have to try and find her. It didn’t take long to realize the search was a race against time to find Grey before anyone gets hurt. Could there disappearance when they were younger and now be connected? What could they possibly be facing?

The sisters are very close, and Iris being the youngest is the only one still living at home with their Mother, Cate, but you can tell as soon as Vivi comes home and they have to work together that even though they are apart, their bond is completely unbreakable. Even though each sister is TOTALLY different all personalities thrive and work well together. I couldn’t choose a favourite, I loved each one of them for completely different reasons! The journey they all go through to save their eldest sister, Grey, who has gone missing, is full of danger throughout and grips you; it’s dark and really has a way of making you HAVE to read on!

I have read Krystal Sutherlands’ past novels and loved them, but this one took me out of my comfort zone. Fantasy isn’t always my first pick, but this was one which I could not put down.  This book is all I ever wanted! It was creepy, weird, haunting, intriguing, and addictive, but also full of love! House of Hollows is possibly one of my favourite reads of 2021 ALREADY! There wasn’t a single moment where I was bored, full of twists and turns. Each page gripped me even more than the last, and sometimes making me squirm with horror, which wasn’t OVER the top but
still make me shiver.

The way this book ended, I was hooked till the very final moments; I am hoping that there will be a second! Or re-read this again?

Beautifully written!

Enjoy reading,

Kellie
