Stephen has had a 25-year association with Transformers comics, working as an ink artist and occasional cover artist for Marvel UK, Marvel US and IDW. This has recently been capped with his inking work on the ROYAL MAIL’s newly-released set of TRANSFORMERS postage stamps.
His comics career began in the1980’s, writing and drawing strips for the CB radio-themed 10-4 ACTION. Then, at Marvel UK, while drawing covers for THUNDERCATS, GHOSTBUSTERS and TRANSFORMERS, he began working as an ink artist, teaming with pencillers on the interior art for those titles, as well as for THE SLEEZE BROTHERS, DOCTOR WHO and THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE.
In addition to having work in other UK titles, including 2000AD, the JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE and THE BEANO, Stephen’s ink art has appeared in many US comics, including WEB OF SPIDER-MAN, SPIDER-MAN 2099, THE BLACK CAT, CAPTAIN PLANET, and GI JOE for Marvel, and in several DC comics, including JLA, GREEN LANTERN, and THE HITCH-HIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY.
In 2020, he was the penciler, inker and colour artist on a 96-page graphic novel, STAY ALIVE, published by Markosia.
Creator-owned projects, written and drawn by Stephen, have appeared in David Lloyd’s ACES WEEKLY and Mark Millar’s CLiNT magazine.
Stephen has also had a long career as a video game concept artist on various titles, including RESERVOIR DOGS, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS CREATURE FROM THE CRUSTY CRAB, BARBIE WILD HORSE RESCUE, DOCTOR WHO EVACUATION EARTH, and the recent JUDGE DREDD CRIME FILES.
